“James Bond” star Sean Connery once beat and disarmed Los Angelous mob enforcer, Johnny Stompanato, after the gangster threatened him with a pistol on the set of Another Time, Another Place. Stompanato had flown to Britain after suspecting Lana Turner, his romantic partner and Connery’s co-star, of having an affair with Connery.

The mafioso would continue his abusive relationship with Turner until he was stabbed to death by Turner’s teenage daughter in 1958. Sean Connery would later be named the “Sexiest Man of Century” by a poll of more than 16,000 women.
